Indian Air Force GROUP X Technical Recruitment 2012 – Airman Vacancies

Indian Air Force invites the applications from the UNMARRIED MALE INDIAN CITIZENS from all the Districts of State of Meghalaya, Tripura, Assam and Mizoram to become airmen. The Recruitment test for Group “X” (Technical) trades will be held at HQ Eastern Air Command, Upper Shillong, Nonglyer Post, Shillong (Meghalaya).

Eligibility Criteria for indian air force:

Educational Qualification for indian air force:

1. Candidate should have passed Intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.


2. Three year Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical or Electronics or Automobile or Computer Science or Instrumentation Technology or Information Technology) with at least 50% marks in overall aggregate from a Government recognized Polytechnic Institute.

Medical Standards for indian air force:

(i) Height: Minimum height required is 152.5 cms.
(ii) Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm
(iii) Weight: Proportionate to height and age. (iv) Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) not acceptable.
(v) Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear
forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.
(vi) Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and
minimum 14 dental points.
(vii) Health: Candidate should be free from medical or surgical

Selection Procedure for indian air force:

1. Verification of Eligibility for indian air force

Original Certificates, Mark Sheets and other required documents {NCC A, B or C certificate, Son of Air Force personnel certificate (SOAFP), Domicile certificate etc.) will be scrutinized and verified at the examination venue prior to commencement of Written Test to ascertain the prima-facie eligibility.

2. Written Test of  indian air force

Written test will be objective type and question paper will be bilingual (English & Hindi) except for English Paper. Duration of the Written Test will be 60 minutes. Written test will be conducted in English, Physics & Mathematics as per CBSE syllabus of AISSCE.

3. Physical Fitness Test:

All candidates who pass the written test are to undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) on the same or the next day. PFT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 8 minutes. Candidates completing the PFT in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds will be awarded additional marks on a sliding scale.

4. Interview:

Candidates who have passed the written test and PFT will be interviewed. Working knowledge of English is a prerequisite.

5. Trade Allocation Test for indian air force:

Candidates of Group X (Technical) trades who qualify in interview are to undergo Trade Allocation Test for bifurcation into Mechanical and Electronics stream. Specific trade allotment within these streams will be carried out at Basic Training Institute (BTI), Air Force (Belgaum).

6. Medical Examination for indian air force: 

Medical examination will be conducted as per IAF medical standards for recruitment as airmen by medical officers of the Armed Forces.

How to Apply for indian air force: Candidates need to attend for Recruitment Rally held at HQ Eastern Air Command, Upper Shillong, Nonglyer Post, Shillong (Meghalaya) from 22-11-2012 to 25-11-2012. Application forms must be filled in and submitted at the venue and form will be made available there. The test will be conducted from 7am to 10am at the Rally Venue.

On 22-11-2012: Written Test and Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades.

On 23-11-2012: Interview of candidates passed written test and PFT on 22 November 2012.  Trade Allocation Test (TAT) and Medical examination for candidates qualified in Interview.
